The pivot inside the $439 million
PixVerse, the Singapore-based company behind one of the largest consumer AI video generation platform businesses in the world, has closed an extension to its Series C, bringing total fundraising in the round to $439 million and pushing its valuation past $2 billion. New investors including Alibaba, Mirae Asset, and six other firms joined returning backers iGlobe Partners and OCBC's LionX Ventures.
For US creative and marketing teams already running text to video ai workflows through Runway, Kling, or Veo, the headline number is less interesting than what PixVerse says it is building next. The company is not raising this money to make better clips. It is raising it to move past clips entirely, into real-time interactive worlds and a game engine.
PixVerse was founded in 2023 by Wang Changhu, a former ByteDance computer vision researcher, and Jaden Xie, previously an executive director at Lighthouse Capital. The consumer product has grown to more than 150 million registered users across 177 countries, and the company reached unicorn status in early 2026.

From clips to living worlds
The shift centers on R1, which PixVerse describes as the world's first real-time world model, launched in January 2026. Instead of producing a fixed video output, R1 generates a continuous stream that responds instantly to user input, more like a live simulation than a rendered clip. Three months after launch, PixVerse added shared worlds and personalized avatars, letting multiple users enter and shape the same generated environment at once.
The new PixVerse Game Engine takes that further. It applies R1 to game creation by separating game mechanics from their visual expression, so a player can describe what they want in natural language and watch the world respond visually and mechanically in real time. The move lands at a convenient moment for PixVerse. OpenAI discontinued the Sora consumer app on April 26, 2026, and is winding down the Sora API by September 24, 2026, after the product reportedly cost far more to run than it generated in revenue. That exit removed one of the highest-profile competitors from the straight text-to-video market and left an opening for challengers to differentiate on something other than raw output quality.
Meanwhile, the tools most US marketing teams already use for straight production, Runway's Gen-4.5, Kling 3.0, and Google's Veo 3.1, are converging on similar quality and pricing for an ai video editor workflow. Kling in particular has become a default reference point for cost-efficient volume generation. Competing purely on video fidelity is getting harder to defend, which is exactly why PixVerse is reaching for a different layer of the stack instead of a better version of the same one.
