Updated weekly10 courses rankedHow we rank

A machine learning course teaches how models learn from data: regression, classification, neural networks and deep learning, usually in Python. It's the foundation under every AI product, and the right course depends on how much math you want.

Andrew Ng's Machine Learning and Deep Learning Specializations remain the best-rated on any platform. The Udemy bootcamps have the biggest audiences and lean more on code than theory.

Who it's for: Developers, analysts and students who want to understand and train models.

The top 10

Scored out of 100 from learner ratings, popularity, weekly momentum, freshness and a syllabus review. Courses from Coursera, Udemy, DataCamp.

How to choose

Theory or practice

If you want to understand why models work, start with the Stanford and DeepLearning.AI specializations. If you want to apply ML quickly, a hands-on Udemy or DataCamp course gets you coding sooner.

Check the update date

Some of the most popular ML courses haven't been updated in years. The core math doesn't age, but the libraries do. Freshness is part of every score here.

What comes next

Most developers now pair ML with AI engineering, which builds products on top of large language models.

Questions

What is the best machine learning course?

This week's #1 is shown above. Andrew Ng's Machine Learning Specialization has the highest learner rating in this list, and Machine Learning A-Z has the most learners.

Do I need math for machine learning?

Some. High-school algebra is enough to start. Linear algebra, calculus and statistics help once you go deeper, and the specializations here teach what you need.

Is there a free machine learning course?

Yes. fast.ai's Practical Deep Learning for Coders and Google's Machine Learning Crash Course are free and tracked here.

Python or R for machine learning?

Python. Almost every course and job uses it, though Machine Learning A-Z teaches both.
