Summary

Coursera Plus costs $59 a month or $399 a year in the US. Last Black Friday, Coursera cut the annual plan to $239. Here is when Plus beats paying for a single AI certificate.

Coursera Plus price right now (checked November 3, 2026)

Coursera Plus costs $59 a month or $399 a year in the US. That is what Coursera's US Coursera Plus page showed in its most recent public capture, from November 2, 2026, and it is the price we checked on November 3, 2026. We update this page every month and whenever Coursera changes the offer.

The monthly plan starts with a 7-day free trial and can be canceled anytime. The annual plan has no trial, but Coursera gives you 14 days to ask for a refund. Either plan unlocks Coursera's subscription catalog of 10,000+ courses, Professional Certificates and Specializations from 350+ universities and companies, with a certificate for each program you finish. Look for the "Included with Coursera Plus" label on a program's page before you subscribe.

One caveat on any Coursera discount you see quoted: prices are local. On November 3, 2026, the Coursera Plus page we loaded from outside the US advertised 40% off the annual plan for new subscribers until November 30, 2026, with the note that local currency and pricing apply outside the US. The US capture from the day before showed no sale. Check the price at checkout in your own country before you count on a number from any article, this one included.

Coursera discount and promo code options

Most people searching for a Coursera promo code end up at the same answer: Coursera's Plus discounts usually aren't codes. They run as offer pages that apply the lower price at checkout. Coursera's own Black Friday FAQ said the 2025 discount was "applied automatically at checkout", and its terms limited it to new Coursera Plus subscribers, one per person, with no stacking on other offers. Treat coupon sites that list Coursera codes with care, and check the price on coursera.org.

Outside of sales, the biggest Coursera Plus discount is simply choosing the annual plan. Twelve months on the monthly plan costs $708 at $59 a month, against $399 for the annual plan. Last year's Black Friday price took the annual plan down to $239.

If you only need a month or two, the monthly plan's 7-day free trial is the cheapest way to see whether you will actually use it. Cancel before the trial ends if you won't.

Coursera Black Friday: what last year's sale looked like

Coursera ran its 2025 Coursera Plus Black Friday offer for about three weeks, not just one weekend. Here is the timeline we could confirm from archived copies of Coursera's own US pages:

Coursera's Black Friday 2025 offer page: Coursera Plus annual for $239 a year instead of $399, save $160, offer ends December 1, 2025
Coursera Plus Black Friday offer page, US version, as archived by the Internet Archive on November 28, 2025.

Coursera's separate Black Friday FAQ described the same deal as 40% off Coursera Plus annual pricing for new subscribers worldwide, ending December 1, 2025. In US dollars that was $160 off, or $239 for the first year.

What this tells you for 2026: Coursera started its sale well before Thanksgiving last year and ended it on Cyber Monday. It does not tell you what Coursera will offer this year. We will add the Coursera Black Friday 2026 offer here, with its exact price and dates, once Coursera publishes it.

  • By November 12, 2025: the Coursera Plus page carried a "$160 off" banner, and the offer page read "$239 for 12 months (regularly $399). Offer ends December 1, 2025."
  • November 28, 2025 (Black Friday): the same $239 offer, rewritten as a Black Friday sale.
  • December 1, 2025 (Cyber Monday): the banner read "Ends today".
  • December 2, 2025: the banner was gone and the page was back to $399 a year.

When Coursera Plus beats paying for single certificates

Coursera Plus only saves money if you finish more than one program, or one long one. Two popular AI certificates show where the line sits.

The Google AI Professional Certificate is 8 short courses that Coursera lists at about 8 hours in total. Bought on its own, Coursera says it costs $49 a month in the US and Canada. A focused learner can finish it inside one month, so $49 beats a $59 month of Coursera Plus. Plus doesn't pay off for this certificate alone.

The IBM AI Engineering Professional Certificate is a 13-course series that Coursera paces at 4 months at 10 hours a week. Coursera's page did not show a standalone price when we checked, so compare against Plus: four months on the monthly plan is $236. The annual plan at $399 only wins if you keep learning past six months, because six months of monthly costs $354 and seven costs $413.

Table comparing the Google AI certificate (8 courses, about 8 hours, $49 a month on its own), IBM AI Engineering (13 courses, 4 months, $236 on four months of Plus monthly) and doing both and more on Plus annual at $399
US prices and suggested pace from Coursera's Google AI and IBM AI Engineering certificate pages (archived October 2026) and the Coursera Plus page (archived Nov 2, 2026).

The sale price changes the math. At last year's $239 Black Friday price, a full year of Coursera Plus cost about the same as four months of the monthly plan. If Coursera repeats a discount like that, the annual plan becomes the better buy for anyone planning the IBM certificate, and anything you take after it is effectively free.

  • One short certificate you'll finish in a month: pay for it on its own.
  • One long certificate (3 to 6 months): Coursera Plus monthly, canceled when you finish.
  • Two or more certificates, or 7+ months of learning: Coursera Plus annual, ideally on a sale.

Who should skip Coursera Plus

Is Coursera Plus worth it? Not for everyone. If you want one or two practical courses on a specific tool, a single Udemy course or a free course is usually cheaper. If you learn best by writing code in the browser, DataCamp's interactive format may suit you better. Our AI course rankings compare options from all three platforms every week, using ratings and enrollment rather than commissions.

Questions

How much does Coursera Plus cost?

In the US, Coursera Plus costs $59 a month with a 7-day free trial, or $399 a year with a 14-day money-back guarantee (checked November 3, 2026). Prices differ by country, and Coursera shows local pricing at checkout.

Does Coursera have a Black Friday sale?

Yes, in 2025. Coursera cut Coursera Plus annual to $239 for the first year, from $399, from at least November 12 until December 1, 2025. We will add the 2026 offer here once Coursera announces it.

Is there a Coursera promo code?

Coursera's Coursera Plus discounts usually don't need a code. The 2025 Black Friday discount was applied automatically at checkout from Coursera's offer page, for new subscribers only.

Is Coursera Plus worth it?

It is worth it if you will finish more than one program or one long program. For a single short certificate, like Google's AI certificate at about 8 hours, paying $49 for it on its own is cheaper than a $59 month of Plus.

Are the Google AI and IBM AI Engineering certificates included in Coursera Plus?

Yes. Both certificate pages on Coursera were labeled "Included with Coursera Plus" when we checked in November 2026.

Can I cancel Coursera Plus?

The monthly plan can be canceled anytime. The annual plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee, and Coursera's offer terms say it renews each year unless you cancel in your account settings.
