BrowserAct

The verdict

BrowserAct is strongest for turning a repeated website task, including one behind your own login, into one reusable bot you can call again from an API or an AI agent. Our tested example: Semrush reports from a subscription we already had, run through the web app, a REST API and MCP. It is less ideal for instant lookups, since our runs took up to 3 minutes each, or for heavily protected sites.

Best for

  • Getting more from a Semrush subscription you already pay for by calling one reusable bot through a REST API or MCP
  • Turning a repeated website task into a reusable bot with changeable inputs
  • Feeding website data to AI agents through MCP
  • Sharing a configured bot with teammates or automations instead of the site password
  • Scheduled data collection that lands in Make, n8n, Zapier or Google Sheets

Not best for

  • Real-time lookups: runs return a task ID first and took up to 3 minutes in our tests
  • Sites with heavy anti-bot protection, where independent reviewers report failures or a need for pricier proxies
  • Using the same site login yourself while a bot runs, since the bot signs in as its own session
  • Teams that can't store third-party passwords in an outside service
